Invisible braces offer the latest in orthodontic treatment. Patients love them due to their discrete nature – no wires or brackets are used in the process.
Your teeth’s alignment is corrected using a series of clear aligners, which are like thin mouthguards. When you smile or speak they are virtually undetectable.

What are invisible braces?
Also known as clear aligners, invisible braces are an orthodontic treatment used to straighten teeth. These 3D-printed clear plastic aligners are worn continuously day and night, except when eating and drinking (water is fine).
The advantages of clear aligners are that they remove the bulk of traditional metal braces, they are transparent and they’re contoured to the unique shape of your teeth. They are fine enough not to be noticed in photos and conversation.
Who can wear clear aligners?
For best results, these aligners should be worn all day and night, so they’re most appropriate for adults who are more likely to ensure they remain on. They won’t produce the desired outcome if not worn as prescribed.
The trade-off for being transparent and thin is that the force applied by invisible braces on teeth is different to that of traditional metal braces. They are most appropriate for treating minor issues, such as mildly crooked, protruding or gappy teeth. They aren’t recommended for bigger orthodontic issues such as a substantial overbite.
How are invisible braces fitted?
At your initial free consultation, we have a chat about your desires and expectations, as well as the cost and payment plans available. We offer a range of interest-free options if you so desire.
Your second appointment involves us taking 3D digital scans of your mouth, which are used to create your custom aligners. These scans are also kept as a record to track the movement of your teeth over the course of the treatment.
Based on these scans, your dentist will create a plan specifically tailored to your teeth.
Once your invisible braces are ready, we’ll get you back in the clinic and go over all you need to know about using and maintaining them at home. Then you’re good to start!
Should invisible braces ever be taken out?
While it is extremely important your invisible braces be worn continuously day and night, there are occasions when you’ll need to remove them. These include:
- When you brush
- When you floss
- When you eat
The general rule of thumb is to ensure you wear your invisible braces at least 22 hours a day.
What are the benefits of clear aligners?
Everyone wants beautifully straight teeth and a smile to be proud of, but no one wants the bulk of traditional metal braces. Not only are clear aligners transparent, they’re contoured to the natural shape of your teeth so they’re hardly noticeable when speaking or smiling.
Oral hygiene is simple with invisible braces. All you have to do is pop them out and brush and floss as normal, then put them back in. As long as they are in for at least 22 hours a day, you’ll get the desired results.
The process of having clear aligners fitted is less time consuming and simpler than traditional metal braces. The price is often less, too, and your private health insurance may offer some cover. If you’re interested, please talk to our friendly team about interest-free payment plans.
